Baseball is groggily emerging from its annual hibernation, eating berries and small animals ravenously, having the first long pee since entering its den last November, maybe scratching the bark off a few trees. Next, the really important stuff — Spring Training.

I, for one, can’t wait for the first game.
“The long national nightmare is almost over.” I was hoping that you meant that Obama was gone. But alas the second term for Carter is only half over. Go Dodgers!
One of the great things about baseball is the ability to leave political and other such discussions at home. I try to stay away from it on the blog, and I’d appreciate it if commenters do to.
Besides, isn’t our shared hatred of the Giants enough? ;)
No, I distinctly remember a few pro Obama posts on this site. While I agree that our mutual hatred of the Giants binds us as brothers, and always will. This should always be the most important thing. I am afraid that the left and right are about to destroy this country. And I am the right, and we are just about fed up being the silent majority. Silent no more!
So does being “silent no more” mean you can’t respect the host’s wishes?
I can find exactly one post on this site since 2006 mentioning Obama, and it’s this one from 2008 that shows two Halloween pumpkins, one of which is Obama and the other is an LA Dodgers logo.
Seriously, there are more than enough places on the Internet with a wide spectrum of political discussions going on. I am afraid about the nation being pulled apart too, but trying to turn baseball into politics isn’t the way to solve it.
