This is a bad, bad thing for me to see — a video game trailer over at the subtly named GameTrailers.com, showing what the gameplay looks like, for the PSP anyhow, for the upcoming MLB 07: The Show. Giants vs Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Quicktime or WMV.
Why is this a bad thing?
First, because I miss baseball like crazy right now anyway, and seeing the game is bittersweet.
Second, because I haven’t played anything in a while, so the potential obsession is frankly a bit hard to ignore.
Third, apparently they didn’t get the message that the player names are back on the Dodger uniforms.
Fourth, apparently JD Drew is still on the team.
Fifth, the Giants somehow get a triple play.
Sixth, I wanna see what everything looks like on PS2, not on a lame PSP!

This is a great find TD and I can’t wait for it. I confess that I am obsessed with the PSP version of MLB 06 The Show, forgoing most other PSP games when I travel. I am currently working on a player who (a) has turned down other teams to stay in the Dodgers’ organization; (b) came up from the minors in year 2 (2007) and helped them win a world series; and (3) is now in September ‘08 leading the Dodgers to a 105-36 record so far, with 83 home runs in the season and over 225 RBI. Good times!
It’s hard to tell from the trailer but I hope the 07 version (1) records new Vasgersian/Campbell play-by-play–they are great, and I would ditch Rex Hudler in an instant; (2) allow more flexibility for camera angles and shots during replays; (3) hear more stadium-specific cheers and boos. Oh, and the psp load times are brutal.
Can’t wait! Have they picked a release date for MLB 07 yet?

The “Launch ETA” countdown on the MLB 07 official website is currently at 61 days and change. End of March?
No offense taken. I have found the PSP to be a pretty good travel gaming system, despite the load times.
But the Ps3 trailers just give me more ammo to get another console….
