There’s no East Coast media bias. No sirree.

MLB.com hands out TYIB Awards

The awards, and the team involved:

  • Closer of the Year, Yankees
  • Manager of the Year, Tigers
  • Rookie of the Year, Twins
  • Hitter of the Year, Yankees
  • Setup Man of the Year, Tigers
  • Individual Performance of the Year, Cardinals
  • Blooper of the Year, Tigers
  • Play of the Year, Yankees
  • Defensive Player of the Year, Red Sox
  • Postseason Moment, Mets

So let’s see, of the 11 awards:

  • 5 won by AL East teams (four by Yankees)
  • 4 won by AL Central teams

Only two NL teams? And the first of them won the World Series. And the second was the other New York team.

What does this prove? East Coast media bias? Not so much.

It proves that people who live in climates where the winter weather will kill you if you stay outside too long, stay indoors and fill out online popularity contests.

There is an East Coast media bias, but this isn’t it. ;)
